Episode 4: My Favorite Fast Casual and Fast Food Spots
Fast food is not typically something that gets covered in food blogs or reviewed but I do have fast casual and fast food restaurants that I prefer. So why not created a list of them?
This list is in no particular order:
Boston Market
My family and I may go to a Boston Market once or twice a year.
We don't go here too often because we can almost mimic our usual meal at home with a whole rotisserie chicken and sides from the supermarket.
Wendy’s
Wendy’s has the best Twitter account for any brand in food-service.
I generally don’t eat a lot of “fast food” but Wendy’s is my go-to over McDonald’s or Burger King.
I have a lot of turn offs with regards to McDonald's, the chief being that their French fries have a list of ingredients that extends past “potatoes.”
My usual order consists of a couple of Jr. Bacon Cheeseburgers (no tomato), fries, and a frosty.
Five Guys Burger & Fries
Not a frequented destination.
I love how you can customize your burger
I don’t love how you smell like a Five Guys for the rest of the day.
The burgers tend to be on the greasy side but are delicious
QDOBA Mexican Eats
This might be my favorite Mexican fast-casual spot.
The portions are very filling.
Everything tasted fresh.
I didn't get a sense that I was eating greasy, Mexican takeout.
Not douchey.
Chick Fil A
Chick Fil A makes great fast food chicken.
They'll never say "you're welcome," instead, they say "my pleasure."
They give a discount to anyone in emergency services and military in uniform.
I love their nuggets.
I love their Chick Fil A sauce.
My usual order is a Chicken club, no tomato, with waffle fries, chicken nuggets, and a lot of Chick Fil A sauce.
Tony Luke's
I spent 6 years living in the western suburbs of Philadelphia.
During that time, I've tried almost all places that sell cheesesteaks. I've had both Pat's and Geno's in the same sitting. I've eaten in Reading Terminal Market, Shanks, to everywhere in between.
Dalessandro's is probably a very close runner up to my favorite spot.
If you want a traditional steak sandwich, that's where you should go.
My order is almost always the Steak Italian with sharp provolone and broccoli rabe.
Shake Shack
This is my family’s favorite fast casual, burger joint.
The food is great.
Especially when they have a special featured burger, like the time Shacks in the Philadelphia area featured a burger designed by acclaimed chef, Marc Vetri.
As a root beer connoisseur, I thoroughly enjoy the root beer they have on tap.
L&L Hawaiian Barbecue
L&L is mostly on the West Coast and Hawaii but there are some locations scattered around the U.S. and internationally.
This is essentially a restaurant chain of a Hawaiian person's kitchen.
The Katsu chicken plate meal was my typical order and I highly recommend it.
In N Out
“Happy cows come from California” and happy cows make happy bellies.
In N Out is probably my favorite fast food joint.
Everything is fresh.
They have a secret menu.
They are only on the west coast.
